ABSTRACT The impact of the residential environment in theories of college student development is often emphasized. Many researchers have studied the effects of on-campus living versus off-campus living, generally finding that living in residence halls is positively associated with both academic and social development. However, the study of gifted college students living in an honors residence hall is rarely addressed. This article examines the possible academic and social effects of living in an honors residence hall. Implications are discussed.
